Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

We're waiting in the queue at Morrisons. E.M is sitting in the buggy whinging, complaining and generally being miserable, minding her sister's behaviour and shouting at her for walking away. I've already told her off several times and she's wearing me down. J.R to E.M:

"Do you WANT to go to bed?"

E.M "No."

"Then STOP SHOUTING at me and leave me ALONE or Mummy will put you to bed!"

Cue sniggers from the customers around us...

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

Having just arrived home from a three hour shopping spree, we all pile out of the taxi and J.R turns to me and says:
"Mummy, I had a GOOD day today."
Aww how nice is that!

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

A sneaky way to get a little something, even after i've told her she's not having a snack:
J.R (whispers) "Mummy i've got a secret! Come here it's in the kitchen....it's a treat! Come on lets get it!"

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

A conversation between me and Miss J.R, on our way home.
J.R "Mummy, i'm Lola."
"Are you, who's the baby then?"
J.R "No, baby is nothing. Mummy YOU are Charlie!"
"But hunny, I can't be Charlie - Charlie's a boy..."
J.R "No, Mummy. I SAID YOU ARE CHARLIE!"
"Ok, ok i'm Charlie."
.....
J.R "Nooo, you're not Charlie, you're my Mummy."

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

J.R has a smirk on her face and her right eye closed tight.
J.R "Mummy, look at my eye!"
Mummy "What's wrong with your eye?"
J.R "It's got a pirate in it..."
LOL

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

The Airplane Conversation
J.R *Gasps* "Mummy what's that noise?"
Mummy "Oh that's just a plane flying high up in the sky."
J.R "[J.R] go on a plane and go in the sky?"
Mummy "Maybe one day. At the moment you're too little, only big girls and boys and Mummies and Daddies can go on planes..."
J.R "Mummy, what people you wanna on a plane?"
Mummy "Who do I want to go on a plane? Oh, that's easy. Mummy, [J.R], Daddy and [E.M]."
J.R "Oh no...Daddy cann'y go on a plane!"
Mummy "Why not?"
J.R "He's belly is TOO big."

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

Knock knock! Daddy answers the door. It's the Delivery Man "Hello..." he chimes.
J.R comes running up to him.
Practically shoving Daddy out the way, she shouts "Hello mate!!"
Daddy (to J.R) "Go in now babe, go sit down."
J.R, running away "You got my pizza mate? I like pizza!"

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

In the supermarket, J.R spots a security guard, and then, in her really loud voice:
J.R "Look Mummy! A POLICE!!"
Mummy "No hunny that's not the police, that's the security..."
J.R "Curey? Noooo it's not Curey it's A POLICE! Hello police, hello!!"
The security guard ignores her.
J.R "Mummy the police is not talkin' a me..."

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

Baby E.M has a new word.
Pants.

And she says it all the time.

It all started when we started calling J.R's pull-ups 'Pants' as opposed to 'Nappies'. Now EVERYTHING is Pants.
J.R tried to get her to say 'Bumblebee' the other day, which unfortunately is coming back as 'Bum Boobie'.
And with her ever growing vocabulary her pronunciation has gone a bit skewed on words she's known a while, like 'Treats'. Which she now pronounces as 'Tits'.
Wonderful.

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

J.R is angry with a spider she's spotted on the ceiling in the front room. She's throwing her toys at it. However, what goes up must come down. And inevitably some of the things she throws up there have hit her on their way back down.
"Oww! I've broken my nose. Look Mummy, my nose! My nose it's broken!"
She's even more angry now, the spider won that round. She stares up at it and screams:
"Get out of my house. It's MY house! Naughty spider! Is a naughty thing to doooo!"

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

Baby E.M is playing with the sand table outside, when the girl who lives next door comes out too. From their garden she calls out:

"Mummy?.... Mummy!" (No reply)

Girl Next Door "Mummy!"

Baby E.M "Yes?"

Girl Next Door "Mummy!!"

Baby E.M "Yes...?"

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

I was running around busy doing chores when I caught J.R going quietly in and out of the kitchen several times... So just before she shut the door the last time I slid through into the kitchen with her.
"Hiya jelly, what'cha doing?" I asked her.
"I'm hiding." "Why you hiding?"
"I get yummy food..."
Ever said something and then instantly realised you shouldn't have?
Her face was a picture XD

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

J.R "Lola, come here..."
Lola "Yeah wait a minute sweetheart."
J.R "Lola! Come here!"
Lola "Ok, ask me nicely. What's the magic word?"
J.R "Now."

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

We have these little round and yellow fridge magnets that J.R used to keep taking from the kitchen.
One day I asked her why and she told me they looked like they were money.
So I let her keep six of them in a little bag. This week she had the bag out and was playing pretend with the money, casually handing the coins to Daddy who was taking them, then freely giving them back to her (he was mid-conversation).
"I like money." J.R said to me, I acknowledged her with a nod.
Then she turned to Daddy, "Daddy I like your money!" she exclaimed.
"Yeah, I bet you do..." came the reply.

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

In an effort to get J.R more involved in the grown-up world of Mummy & Daddy, I quite often ask her if she'll help me with the dishes or putting the clean clothes away. Easy chores like that. She enjoys it, makes her feel that bit older than her sister "You have to be a big girl to do this, babies can't do it..."
And recently I said to her,
"J.R you wanna help Mummy make dinner?"
"Oh no," she replied "I'm far too busy!"

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

Another bedtime escape attempt, I heard some rustling coming from the girls room so I decided to check it out, and found J.R slowly lowering herself out of bed. Very carefully, really making the effort to be quiet. She didn't hear me approach the doorway, so when she turned to find herself face-to-face with Mummy, she almost hit the ceiling!
Mummy "What are you doing?"
J.R "[J.R] can't sleep..."
Mummy "Why can't you sleep?"
J.R "I gotta go to work."
The things these girls come out with...seriously!

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

While we sat waiting at the school yesterday, E.M surprised me.
"Triangles!" She exclaimed, pointing to the ceiling.
"Yeah..." I replied - not really paying much attention.
"Triangles!" She said again, so this time I had a look. There above the window hung some red, yellow and blue bunting. Triangles. O_O

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

It's surprising what 3 year old's can come out with isn't it? Here's a new one from Miss J.R this week:
(She shouts, in the way a drill instructor would)
"Are you ready girls?!"
(then in a quiet voice answers herself)
"Almost ready..."

Tuesday's Fly On The Wall

It's a case of quick thinking this week, as Miss J.R tries to talk her way out of bedtime.
J.R (In a quiet voice) "Psst Mummy!"
Mummy "What's the matter honey? Can't you sleep?"
J.R "No. [J.R] can't sleep, I can't close eyes."
Mummy "Why can't you close your eyes?"
J.R "It's dark outside..."
Mummy "Yes, that's cos it's night time. And past your bedtime now."
J.R "But... I can't find it!"
Mummy "Can't find what?"
J.R "I can't find the spider. Mummy where's the spider Sydney?"
Mummy "Sydney is in bed now sweetheart, because it's time for big girls and spiders to go to sleep. Night night, see you soon."
I kiss her forehead and turn to leave the room.
........
J.R "Mummy, what about bees???"
