J.R Brings Home The Bat Trousers...

Today J.R came home from pre-school wearing pirate trousers!

A member of the pre-school staff noticed she was still wearing them just as she was walking out the door... and since she insisted on keeping the 'bat trousers'* on, they told me we could bring them back tomorrow.

*J.R is having a hard time accepting that Halloween is over. Bless her.
She loves everything about it, the spooky costumes are her favourite, she loves the elaborate witches dresses and manages to find something spooky in everything. She named the trousers bat trousers because the black colour and jagged edges remind her of bat wings.

E.M & The Laundry Bag

E.M has taken a liking to the laundry bag.
I can't for the life of me remember how it started, all I know is that she absolutely loves being dragged around in it! She fits in it perfectly, gets in AND out of it all on her own - and has named it Choo Choo :)

What Does This Look Like To You?

Yep, that's right, it's a pocket library.
A Waybuloo Pocket library to be exact. Six little books in a slip case. Because J.R picked up one of these in Tesco today and said "Mummy, is that cigarettes?"
Well obviously I told her it wasn't, but i'm still a little shocked and confused...what the ?

Daddy's Not Here

And so, E.M has decided that today she DOES NOT have to:
  • put her pyjama trousers back on.
  • put ANY trousers on at all.
  • eat her breakfast.
  • sit on the sofa nicely if she wants to watch TV.
But instead SHE WILL:
  • run and throw her pyjama trousers into the kitchen.
  • walk around the house in just a nappy and vest.
  • lick all the butter from two slices of toast.
  • and watch the TV from a mere three inches away.

Rebel.

Bracelets, Beads & Other Bits 'n' Bobs...

The girls had fun playing with my accessories box this morning, seeing how many bracelets and bangles they could fit onto their little arms at once. E.M kept her arm in the air the whole time to help the bangles stay on...bless her!
We love accessories, SO much fun!!

Uh-Oh...

Not good.
E.M is chewing on a baby bottle.
One from the cupboard where I keep all the plastic kitchen bits.
One that J.R kindly went and found for her.
Not good at all.

Time With The Littlest One

Now that J.R is back in school, I'm really enjoying time alone with Baby E.M. She really is a very different child when her sister isn't around. She's quiet and snuggly, inclined to just sit next to me on the sofa and learn about things. Real temper tantrums happen less often now that she doesn't have to yell and scream to defend her rights as the smallest one. She's calmer and more thoughtful, preferring calmer roleplay games and reading books together to running around and shrieking.

This morning I captured a sweet moment. Baby E.M was sitting on the sofa quietly and contentedly 'sorting' her hair bands out, taking them out of the jar and carefully putting them back in again.
One by one.
I love seeing this side of her personality. Funny little thing she is.

Things Little Ones Do

Baby is perfectly happy keeping herself occupied at the moment.
She's emptied half a packet of chocolate chips into her pretend frying pan and is 'cooking' and eating them.
Funny little thing.

Why??

We keep our coppers in an oversized bottle in the living room, and have done for years now. So I can't help but wonder why the girls feel it's their job to fill the bottle with other rubbish such as biscuits, magnets, lolly sticks and worst of all...the money from my purse.
This morning I sat and stared in disbelief down the neck of the bottle, and counted up £6.20 in pounds, fifties and twenties.
Why!? And what's worse? You can't just tip the bottle up and have the coins slide out - oh no - as soon as you tip the bottle they all mix together! Great.
Sure, I completely emptied the bottle. But I got the girls to put all the coppers back in themselves. And no I didn't count them.

Things Little Ones Do

J.R has found a new use for her step stool. A front row seat and replacement for the sofas in the living room. She wasn't too keen on sitting on the sofa anyway and most of the time would rather stand up to watch tv. And to think I was going to buy her one of those expensive kiddy beanbags! Problem solved.

Things Little Ones Do

8.42am: J.R is in the bathroom brushing her teeth, whilst singing at the top of her voice "Michael Essien, Essien, Michael Essien!"... Blame Daddy.
